LAGOS CP LEADS DARING RAID ON KIDNAPPERS’ HIDEOUT, 13 ARRESTED

The Lagos State Command has made a significant breakthrough in combating crime, arresting 13 suspected kidnappers and one-chance operators in a raid on a criminal hideout at Pipeline Road, Idimu in Alimosho area of the State.
The operation, led by Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, was carried out following intelligence reports and undercover surveillance.
The suspects, operating under the guise of commercial transportation, targeted unsuspecting commuters, mostly in the early hours of the morning and late at night, coercing them to surrender valuables, phones, and money. The police boss revealed that the syndicate had operated in the area for over eight years, with victims including Muslim and Christian faithful traveling to early morning worship services.
The police recovered weapons used to intimidate victims and operational vehicles, including a Toyota Sienna. The CP assured residents of improved security, stating that the state does not have widespread kidnapping cases, but incidents linked to one-chance criminal activities.
The command plans to strengthen crime prevention across the state by introducing an Anti-Crime Patrol and Community Protection Unit, with officers redeployed from VIP duties and stationed at 10 strategic locations to operate round-the-clock.
In the meantime, The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA)has sealed the building used by the suspects. Residents are urged to go about their lawful businesses without fear, as the police command reiterates its commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the state.
