LASTMA INDUCTS LAGOS SURVEYOR-GENERAL AS SPECIAL TRAFFIC MAYOR

 

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has inducted and decorated the Permanent Secretary/Surveyor-General, Office of the State Surveyor-General (OSSG), Surv. Ayokunnu Adesina, as a Special Traffic Mayor.

The ceremony was conducted by Mr. Awoyemi Jimmy, the Director of Traffic Advocacy and Special Traffic Mayor Department, alongside his team, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the Permanent Secretary’s office in Alausa, Ikeja.

The initiative aims to enhance traffic advocacy efforts by securing the support and cooperation of distinguished civil servants in Lagos State. The engagement of top civil servants by LASTMA is an initiative that seeks to strengthen public participation in traffic management, promote safety awareness, and facilitate emergency response mechanisms across Lagos.

Expressing his gratitude, Surv. Ayokunnu Adesina commended LASTMA for the laudable idea and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Agency’s mission of ensuring efficient traffic flow and congestion control in the State.

“The role of LASTMA in managing Lagos traffic is commendable, and I am honoured to contribute to their efforts as a Special Traffic Mayor. I look forward to collaborating with the Agency to improve traffic conditions and safety for all road users,” he stated.

The Special Traffic Mayor initiative is a strategic move by LASTMA to foster partnerships between government officials, private stakeholders, and the public in addressing Lagos’ traffic challenges. The programme also encourages responsible road usage and enhances communication channels for real-time traffic feedback.

This development underscores the Lagos State Government’s unwavering commitment to efficient traffic management, safety, and public engagement in tackling transportation challenges in the megacity.
