Ibadan Polytechnic Students Union distributes food packages to 500 students for Ramadan, Lent

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has distributed food packages to 500 students as part of its welfare initiative to support students during the Ramadan and Lenten fasting seasons.
Fagbemi Ojo, SUG president, said his leadership remains committed to sustaining the welfare initiative.
The exercise was held at the union building located on the institution’s north campus.
Ojo added that the union plans to reach about 7,000 students with the welfare package.
“This initiative has been running for about two years now, and we are only maintaining the legacy. We believe it is something we can do to support students, especially during this Ramadan and Lent period,” he said.
Olaniyi Babatunde, SUG welfare secretary, assured that more welfare programmes are being planned beyond the fasting season.
Some students who benefited from the initiative expressed appreciation to the leadership of the union for the gesture.
A female student from the department of pure and applied chemistry commended the initiative and urged the union to continue supporting students.
“I am very proud of the students’ union for coming up with this kind of welfare initiative. It really goes a long way, and I encourage them to keep up the good work,” she said.
Another student from the department of mass communication described the programme as “a source of hope for students”, especially during the fasting period
