BADAGRY LG CHAIRMAN LAUDS RESTORE FOUNDATION FOR CHILD SIGHT, OTHERS ON FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH

The Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe has thanked the Restore Foundation for Child Sight, Badagry General Hospital and other NGOs for conducting a free medical outreach exclusively for residents of Badagry between the ages of 0-17 years, with consideration for a few adults in dental care in the Badagry community.
Hon. Hunpe gave the commendation when he visited the team, led by Dr. Andar Ferguson, to express his gratitude for sponsoring the initiative at the General Hospital, Badagry, on Monday, being the closing of the second round of the exercise which began last week Monday, 5th & 6th January, 2026.
Hon. Hunpe, who had earlier visited the facility on Sunday, reiterated his administration’s commitment to foot the bills of children whose eyes were freely screened, given free drugs, free eye glasses, but recommended for eye surgeries, describing it as a demonstration of his resolve to ensure that the health intervention impact on the children.
“I’ve come here to say thank you for what you’re doing for us in Badagry. This one we are closing today is not the end, and is not going to be the end. On behalf of the people of Badagry Local Government, we would be expecting you to come back soon for the same initiative”, he said.
He said that Badagry was so blessed as the cradle of western civilisation in Nigeria, and that its immense natural potential could be harnessed to boost the development of the area. Thus, he pleaded with the team to reconsider giving the community its privileged support infrastructurally, medically, educationally, and in other areas.
Hunpe also admired the Medical Director/CEO of Badagry GH, Dr Adesola Oluseyi, for blazing a great feat since he assumed office a few months ago, urging him to continue the good work he had embarked upon, and that God Almighty would reward him.
Earlier, D. Muskinni Salau, a Nigerian partner of the visiting team, praised the management for providing the enabling environment that brought out people in large numbers. He noted that the turnout had really overstretched their equipment and consumables, and that the warm reception had been very helpful in making the event a huge success. He expressed confidence that the medical outreach had contributed meaningfully to the well-being of the community.
The climax of the visit of the Council Chairman was a symbolic presentation of two Sato drums’ artwork to Dr. Ferguson’s team and her Nigeria’s partner to showcase the rich cultural selling-point of the people of the community, including series of complementary gifts, 200 pieces of dried coconuts, and a plaque to the Medical Director/CEO was received on his behalf by the Head of Admin. & Human Resource, Mr. Tajudeen Ogunbekun.
Dr. Ferguson’s team, the Restore Foundation for Child Sight, collaborated with the Green Fountain Dental Clinic and Rainy Day Eye Care Services on the initiative.
