Activist and prominent supporter of Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC, Aisha Yesufu, has accused Channels TV journalist Seun Okinbaloye and other media practitioners of disproportionate scrutiny of party presidential candidate Peter Obi compared to other hopefuls including President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking in video posted on Instagram, Yesufu expressed frustration over line of questioning during Obi’s recent appearance on Channels Television Sunday Politics One-on-One on July 26, 2026, where he discussed 2027 ambition, policy proposals and criticisms of Tinubu administration on economy and insecurity.
“I don’t think there’s any question Seun asked Peter Obi that has not already been asked. It’s same conversation again and again,” she said, questioning why more pressure is put on Obi – “What do you want to do with insecurity? What do you want to do with this?” – while nothing is said about other candidates.
Taking swipe at Tinubu, Yesufu alleged President has largely avoided difficult media interviews. “Nobody is asking him tough questions. He’s not in front of camera. Yet the one person who cares, who has been out there speaking to people, is the one that more and more is needed from him,” she said.
She also clarified Obi’s controversial “Muslim commissioners” remark, saying he was referring to Commissioners of Police and not members of state executive council as critics suggested.
Yesufu urged Nigerians to focus on pressing challenges rather than repeatedly questioning former Anambra governor, warning against “self-sabotage.” “I don’t think there’s anything about Peter Obi that you need to know that you’ve not heard already,” she added. The interview became most discussed political programme on social media after Okinbaloye repeatedly questioned Obi on implementation of promises.
