LASG URGES YOUTHS TO PROFER REALISTIC SOLUTIONS TO SOCIAL PROBLEMS

The Lagos State Government on Wednesday has charged the youths to always come up with realistic and innovative solutions, saying the government is not looking for the one billion dollar ideas or unrealistic expectations.

The Permanent Secretary, Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke gave the advice during the opening ceremony of “Youth Leadership, Emergency Action & Development Programme” organised by the Lateef Jakande Academy held at the NJS Royal Event Centre, Richard Garden Estate, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos

She said the government is always ready when the youths participate and collaborate with them at the Local Government level and all levels to see how their energy contributes to the system.

According to her, “The youths are the current solution for the Health Districts and beyond. So let’s get to work and see how it works. Whether it’s on waste management, training or anything else, come up with solutions. Identify the problems and tell us your preferred solution”.

Dr. Adeleke noted that what the participants achieved at the programme will set the tone for the rest of Lagos which would be cascaded into different places, the programme is built on three high-impact pillars which include Good leadership orientation, Emergency and public health awareness, which involves the basic learning of the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) awareness.

While noting that public health is not just for doctors but for every young person who cares about their neighbours, she explained that leadership is also not just about a fancy title but about stepping out of one’s comfort zone and moving from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset for one’s own development.

The PS charged the youths to align their energy with the State’s THEMES Plus Agenda, emphasising that the government has ensured that state development is inclusive, driven by social impact, and youth-led initiatives.
