JUDE IS NOT PART OF P-SQUARE!” — PETER OKOYE DROPS BOMBSHELL IN COURT, ADMITS COLLECTING OVER $800K ROYALTIES WITHOUT GIVING JUDE A DIME
The P-Square family drama has taken another serious turn in court.
Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has told a Federal High Court in Lagos that he received over $800,000 in royalties from SACEM for P-Square’s musical works — but did not give any part of the money to his elder brother, Jude Okoye.
During cross-examination by Jude’s lawyer, Clement Onwuewunor (SAN), Peter was asked whether he shared the royalties with Jude.
His answer was no.
Peter reportedly maintained that the money was meant for the artists and said he did not inform Jude about the payments.
Interestingly, Peter also admitted that he had previously paid Jude a quarter of his SACEM earnings, but insisted that he was not under any obligation to continue doing so because, according to him, Jude was not entitled to the royalties.
And then came another major statement.
When asked about Jude’s place in P-Square, Peter told the court:
“Jude is not part of P-Square.”
Peter maintained that the songs performed by the group were composed, written and produced by him and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, although he acknowledged that Jude contributed to P-Square’s success by directing some of their music videos.
The court also heard that Jude had sent Peter royalty records covering 2016 to 2022, including records connected to Lex Records. Peter said he requested the records because some people were interested in buying the P-Square music catalogue.
However, when defence counsel asked him to provide evidence that he had requested the records earlier than October 16, 2022, Peter admitted:
“No. I don’t have any and I can’t recall.”
The case is part of the ongoing EFCC prosecution of Jude Okoye and Northside Music Limited over alleged financial offences involving N1.3 billion and $1 million. Jude and the company have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
For now, the courtroom is becoming another battleground in the long-running P-Square family and royalty dispute.
The matter has been adjourned to December 8 and 9, 2026, for further hearing.
