The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, led about 600 schoolboys on an educational visit to the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, as part of activities marking the grand finale of the 2026 Lagos Boy Child Initiative (LBCI), aimed at exposing participants to the structure and operations of governance in the State.

The visit to the Secretariat was part of the major highlight of the four-day residential programme, which provided the boys with a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insight into public administration and leadership.

The LBCI participants, the First Lady and her entourage, were received by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, alongside the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende and the Body of Permanent Secretaries.

While presenting the boys to the Head of Service, the First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to raising a generation of well-rounded boys through the Lagos Boy Child Initiative. She noted that deliberate investments in mentorship, exposure, and value reorientation are essential to shaping future leaders.

According to her, the engagement with the Head of Service, was intended to offer an interactive platform for the boys to better understand governance processes, policy implementation, and the critical role of public institutions in driving sustainable development in Lagos State.

Addressing the boys at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, the Head of Service enlightened the boys on the workings of the Lagos State Public Service, emphasising the values of discipline, integrity, and dedication required for effective leadership and service delivery.

He encouraged the participants to remain focused and committed to becoming responsible citizens who will contribute meaningfully to society.

Agoro charged the participants of the four-day workshop to serve as good ambassadors of the initiative and apply the knowledge gained towards building a better society.

Some Permanent Secretaries, who are seasoned professionals across diverse fields, also engaged the boys in insightful career conversations, guiding them on how to identify and pursue paths aligned with their interests, strengths, and aspirations.

They emphasised the importance of education, consistency, and personal discipline as key drivers of success in any chosen profession.

The interactive session further provided an opportunity for the participants to ask questions, share their ambitions, and receive practical advice on career development, public service, and leadership.

It should be noted that before the visit to the Head of Service, the First Lady and the LBCI boys had visited Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Ikeja, where participants were introduced to corporate best practices, innovation, and the importance of teamwork, to further broaden their learning experience.
